Google Docs
now i did not have enough time to actually look at all of the documents on Google doc's so that is my goal in the next few weeks. I know there are a lot of good asserts there and i am sure that i can use many of them but right now i am just trying to get though this class without loosing my mind.
google Earth
Wow, there is more to Google earth than looking at your house from space and trying to figure out when the satellite took the picture. "when did we park the car over there?" I think there will be some applications to my classroom with google earth but nothing show stopping. Every once in a while using google earth will be a good addition to the lesson but all in all, not the most applicable to Health or Computers. I believe something like social studies or history could benefit from Google earth better.
Photo Sharing
I am been looking for a great way to share all the photo's that the kids take in my class without having to post them to a web site. I love the photo sharing sites. I never really looked into them before. The kids can post their pictures on the site and their parents and friends can look at them any time. The access is what i really like about these sites. Again, i am like a kid in a candy store. I have so many choices of things to do and no way near enough time to do them all.
soclal book marking
I have been using Delicious, the social book marking site for over a year now. I love it. I always had the problem of working at home, book marking something there and not being able to access the bookmark at school when i needed it. I would have to write it down and then type it all in. That didn't always work. If a person keeps their bookmark site clean and simple then sharing it would be good. If a person uses the social bookmarking site for personal stuff also and is not real organized, then looking at another persons Delicious account would be just as time consuming at just Googling the subject in the first place.
Wiki's
i am looking forward to setting up a wiki for my students to post their work so their parents can see their work and the others in the class. I know the parents would like to see their own kids work but it would also be nice to see how their child's work compares to the others in class. This way, we might avoid the uncomfortable question from the parents " Why does my little Johnny have such a bad grade. he does all the work. He says you don't like him. What is going on? Those are always such fun conversations.
blogs in the classroom
I can see some use for blogs in the classroom. In a middle school computer classroom i can see using this site to expose kids to blogging, the advantages and pit falls of blogging and the safety issues. I see it would be good exposure but as of right now, i don't see a lot of applications in the middle school arena. I guess when i explore blogging some more or read the other peoples blogs, i may get some ideas on how to use blogging in my classroom.
